Watson's going to break the heart that he himself built, the beating, tender bit of soul that Holmes never wanted to own and now that it's there, Watson's simply going to rip it out and throw it away.

For the first time, Holmes wishes he'd never met John Hamish Watson.

Reccer's comments: A poignant "What if..." scenario fic. Holmes travels back in time to convince himself not to get involved with Watson... Unsurprisingly it doesn't turn out well.
This fic breaks my heart, it really does, but that's part of why I love it.
