Reccer's comments: Get out your hankies, gentle readers. No one writes noble, competent-as-hell Lestrade quite like morganstuart. Her nuanced takes on everyone’s favorite silver fox detective have become my head-canon for Lestrade, and this fic is another stellar example of her characterization. Sherlock is lovingly drawn here as well: he's his usual brilliant self, dealing with events as well as he can with his limited ability to process and express emotions. The story is one of those great and terrible (terrible as in impressive) examples of a horrifying situation drawn in such a realistic way as to make you wake up in the morning thinking this scene actually took place in some mysterious (and cruel) Episode 4 of Series 1. But seriously, bring your tissues.
