It’s not only Sarah’s family who may be harbouring strange ideas; Sherlock has gone incommunicado in Oxford, a city with which he has had a love/hate relationship since he was sent down from the University in his second year.

This very-much-in-the-spirit-of-Season-1 gem is superficially just a jaunty little casefic with some modern-times Austen-ish humour thrown into the mix. But about halfway through it becomes much more than that. Despite the separation--John in Yorkshire, Sherlock in Oxford--the fic is, to a considerable degree, about their friendship: Sherlock's neuroses, and John's incomprehension in the face of them.
Along the way we get a good dose of Holmes fraternal bickering, Mycroft meddling (with a bit of deus ex-Mycroft thrown in for kicks), politics and espionage and other fun things. In other words, a wonderful, ripping post-S1 yarn with a very strong backbone founded on an examination of the relationships between the three principals. And to top it off, some wonderful John/Sarah, a real treat for those of us who miss the fantastic Doctor Sawyer.
