Title: Granada Holmes + Watson Painting
Author: Frodo-baggins1994 on deviantart
Pairing: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Verse: Granada
Author's summary: Holmes and Watson: Granada (Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwicke). I’ve got legitimately no idea when I started/finished it, but I never posted it. I found it on the laptop, and I went “Wait when did I do this.” Whoops. But anyways, here it is.
Reccer's comments: I decided recently that I need more Granada series art in my life, so I went over to deviantart to see what I could find and lo and behold! A beautiful portrait based on my favorite Granada photograph. I couldn't have asked for anything more. The artist has captured the actors' expressions beautifully; Brett's Holmes and Hardwicke's Watson look out at the viewer, Holmes with an attitude of wry assessment, Watson with concern and warmth (I love his crinkled forehead and the hint of a smile!) The two stand close together, a single entity facing the world.
The painting is in some ways photo-realistic, but there remain broad brushstrokes and a swirling, abstract background which mix in a slightly impressionistic effect. It's lovely.
