Title: Stay
Author: esterbrook
Pairing: John/Sherlock
Length: 7391 words
Rating: Mature
Warnings: None
Verse: BBC Sherlock
Author's summary: Retirement wasn’t quite what they’d expected. For one thing, they hadn’t been in the same room in two years.

Reccer's comments: Hmmm. Canon says Sherlock retires to Sussex to raise bees. Esterbrook asks what if one post-Reichenbach night many years prior, John and Sherlock had misinterpreted each other’s actions and then made assumptions because of that? It’s a beautifully done peek into John and Sherlock’s relationship as they age, and her description of their older selves and their lives seems authentic in its detail. It’s romantic and tender, yet playful. Bottom line? This story moved me. I must also have a thing for authors who play with titles because I love the way esterbrook plays with the concept of staying. Enjoy.
