Rating: PG
Warnings: some violence, the author warns for original characters
Verse: Sherlock BBC
Author's summary: Sherlock and an American FBI agent solve puzzles and chase Moriarty across America.
Reccer's comments: This is an incredibly well-written, very fun case fic. The author has a series of actual puzzles and clues, some within the story and some separate mini-clues, that the reader can try to solve along with Sherlock. One of the main characters is an original character, but he is well-developed and his interactions with Sherlock work. I've said before that Sherlock is sometimes a walking deus ex machina, but that's not true in this story. The story shows how he works through the clues and, if you read it all in order, you can try to solve the puzzle before Sherlock reveals the answer in the next chapter. Also, this is set in the U.S.. As an American, it was interesting to read a story with a landscape that is familiar to me and to see how Sherlock functions within that landscape. It surprises me when people start chatting about good case fic within the BBC verse and this story doesn't get mentioned. It deserves far more love and attention than it's received.
Some of the chapters aren't linked to each other, so here are links to each part:
