Title: Against the Tempest
Author:
janeturenne
Pairing: Implied Holmes/Watson
Length: 5,000 words
Rating: PG
Warnings: none
Verse: ACD Books
Author's summary: On the day of Lestrade's retirement, he and Holmes discuss the past and the future.
Reccer's comments:This story does two things beautifully. First, it gives us a glimpse of what the future might hold for our characters after the end of the written cases. Secondly, we get to hear the reasons why Sherlock Holmes often turned to Lestrade instead of some of the others at Scotland Yard. This somewhat hesitant conversation between Lestrade & Holmes about a personal issue is one of my favorite pieces of fanfiction. It's subtle yet touching and very well done.
