Title: The anonymous author of this fic didn't title it. However, it has been recc'd elsewhere as 'Happy new year'
Author: Anonymous (kinkmeme fill)
Verse: BBC Sherlock
Characters/Pairings: Lestrade, Sherlock/oc, Sherlock/John
Warnings: Domestic Violence/Partner abuse, offscreen rape, drugs, angst (but with a happy ending)
Rating: NC-17
Genre: Hurt/Comfort, BAMF!Lestrade, Sherlock's past, eventual slash
Length: 11,000
Summary (in this case, the original prompt): As it's a prompt, it gives massive spoilers for the story so I've whited out the text...see genre for oblique hints or highlight this space to read the full prompt. In previous years, Sherlock was in a relationship with a man. Said man wasn't very nice. When Lestrade called on Sherlock, he would show up with a black eye sometimes, or be limping, and look upset. But he would get the job done. When Sherlock comes in with broken ribs, and a bruised face, and a limp (possibly from rape) Lestrade really notices, and questions him about it. He figures out that Sherlock is being abused by his boyfriend, and gets him out of the relationship. Sherlock refuses to date again, untill he meets John.John want's to go out with Sherlock, and asks Lestrade for help, since he's known Sherlock for a while. Lestrade sits John down and gives him the "Break him, and i will murder you" talk. John doesn't know, but Lestrade is protecting Sherlock from a repeat of his old boyfriend.

Reccers comments: I don't normally read, write or rec non-con but this fic was something special. Covering several years and told from Lestrade's perspective, it casts him as a kind of protective big brother figure to Sherlock. The characterisation is perfect throughout and Lestrade's relationship with Sherlock, and Sherlock's relationship with John are beautifully drawn. It's one of the most convincing backstories for Lestrade and Sherlock that I've read and ends up being tender, touching and restorative.
