Title: It Comes Naturally
Author:
sinuous_curve
Pairing: none
Length: 25,500
Author's summary: On a cool Thursday in early September, Watson descended the wide stairs of 221 Baker Street, still yawning away the last of a fitful night's sleep, and found her friend and partner, Sherlock Holmes, sitting at the breakfast table and intently reading a letter. The missive was several pages worth of cramped, dense handwriting and was already spattered lightly with what, at a cursory glance, appeared to be tea.
- Watson is a woman who has chosen to disguise her sex and live as a gentleman.
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Moderately graphic depictions of a brawl and resulting injuries
Verse: Books (afaik...)
Reccer's comments: I started reading this more out of curiosity of how the author had handled the scenario, than out of genuine interest in a female!JW. But I changed my mind after only a few paragraphs...
sinuous_curve's Watson managed to completely pull me in and convince me that she is THE Watson.
Granted... you have to leave your scepticism of how on earth Holmes would not notice such a sham at the door, but once you get behind the idea this is a truly delightful, very well-written fic! I love that the story stays gen, as Holmes' and Watson's friendship - and the way it changes - is what I like most about it. Definitely a story that deserves way more attention than it received.
And all that combined with a genuinely interesting and well thought out case-fic and great OCs! :)
